If you know your way  around a Sawzall and have a composition roof, you can probably install your own Solatube in ~4 hours.

Three important things to keep in mind:

1. Do you really have time?
2. Are you comfortable ON your roof and, more importantly, cutting INTO it?
3. How tight and hot is your attic?
